Women Injured As Money Tossed From Stage At Lil Wayne Show

When will hip-hop artists learn that throwing money from the stage into the audience at shows can only lead to trouble?

Three women were hurt in the rush to grab some cash when someone tossed it into the crowd during Lil Wayne's performance at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md. last Thursday. Two women were taken to hospital with leg injuries, another one was hurt but refused medical treatment, and a fourth female fainted at the show, according to university police, who are considering filing criminal charges against the rapper.

"We're evaluating it from a public safety standpoint and a criminal standpoint," university police chief Adrian Wiggins told The Baltimore Sun.

It wasn't clear if Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter) or a member of his entourage hurled the loot (apparently consisting primarily of $1 bills, but also $5, $10 and $20 bills) into the crowd of 4,000 people.

"It was as dangerous a thing to do as standing in a crowded movie theater and shouting fire," university spokesman Clinton Coleman said.

The injuries experienced by the three women pale in comparison, however, to those suffered by members of rapper T.I.'s posse in May after one of them allegedly threw money from the stage at a post-concert after-hours party at Cincinnati's Club Ritz. Members of the crowd apparently took offence and reports from the local Enquirer newspaper said that some of them became involved in a high-speed chase with two vans carrying T.I. (real name Clifford Harris) and his associates.

A police report said a gun battle ensued on the highway and that T.I.'s personal assistant, Philant Johnson, was shot and killed. Three other people connected with the rapper were wounded in the incident.
