Nominees Sam Roberts, Mobile, Evans Blue, Hostage Life, Ill Scarlett, Champion and Neverending White Lights will play at the CASBY Music Awards on Nov. 22 at Toronto's Kool Haus. K-OS will also perform and, oddly enough, his "Sunday Morning" single was added to the original nominees in the favourite new artist category at the same time as the announcement was made.

We don't have the time or inclination to list all of DMX's past traffic violations (trust us, there are lots of them), but the rapper is now facing a misdemeanour charge after police stopped a driver in Yonkers, N.Y. on Oct. 9 and impounded his uninspected 2001 Chevy Suburban for various infractions. The man born Earl Simmons, who's unlicensed to drive in the state and had his registration suspended, received three summonses to appear in court on Dec. 18.

Jadakiss spent three days in jail earlier this week before posting $5,000 U.S. bail after being arrested on gun and drug possession charges in Yonkers, N.Y. early on Saturday morning. The rapper appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property. A misdemeanour marijuana possession charge is still pending. The MC (real name Jason T. Phillips) is due back in court on Oct. 20.

Artists who want a chance to win a Canadian Independent Music Award as part of Canadian Music Week on March 7 can apply exclusively through Sonicbids from now until Nov. 15. Submission rules and regulations can be obtained from the CMW website. The CBC's Galaxie Rising Stars Award, a $3,000 cash prize, will also be presented at the Indies ceremony.
