Lou Barlow Has Both Dino Jr. And Sebadoh On The Go

Lou Barlow is a busy dude these days. Not only has the bassist/singer been touring and working on a new Dinosaur Jr. album with original group members J. Mascis and Murph at Mascis' home studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, but he's also reforming the classic Sebadoh lineup for a 2007 tour.
Barlow scrawled on his website that Sebadoh's Eric Gaffney and Jason Loewenstein will join him on tour from February 25 through April next year. This lineup of the band came together just before the release of 1991's III album and is widely considered to be the best, so fans should be excited by this news.
Back in Dinosaur Jr. land, the still untitled new album is expected to be released in the spring. Barlow says that he's written two songs for the record, which will likely include the tracks "By The Fire," "This Is All I Came To Do," "Back To Your Heart" and "Stop."
The original lineup got back together last year for the first time since 1989, and the reunion tour went so well that they decided to see what else it could spawn.
"The band pretty much does one thing at a time," Barlow told Billboard.com. "I thought we'd be done after the tour, but then the album magically popped up."
Dinosaur Jr. will support the new album with a tour, which will also give them a chance to hawk a live DVD that's slated for a May 8 release. The DVD, directed by Mascis' brother-in-law, Phillip Virus, will include performance footage from the first part of the reunion tour. Barlow doesn't seem too eager to promote it at this point, however.
"I haven't seen it, but I'm kind of terrified because I hate live DVDs. Looking at us playing these old songs, that runs a distant second to seeing us when we were really young and fucked up and struggling. Some really shaky, old video — I'd rather see that. Seeing us older and more confident and paunchier — I mean, we play the songs well, but so what?"
