Perhaps it's +44 drummer Travis Barker's ability to play through pain that turns on the chicks.
The former Blink-182 member unknowingly broke his arm more than three weeks ago while shooting the video for "When Your Heart Stops Beating," but continued to pound the skins throughout the band's seven-show European promotional tour that followed. He got X-rays in London when the pain became unbearable, but a doctor couldn't determine what had happened.
"When I got back to L.A. I saw another doctor and had every test possible to see what was going on in my arm," Barker wrote on his MySpace blog on Thursday. "The MRI/X-ray showed I'd been playing with a broken arm for 3 weeks and or possible tumor in my arm.
"Im at a loss of words, just taking everything one day at a time. I've been told to eat meat and change my diet(Ive been vegetarian for 16 years) cause its making my bones weak. I never thought I'd break a bone from playing my drums too hard/ too long...everything happens for a reason. I'm gonna spend the next 6 weeks with my babies and producing."
Barker has been told by doctors to rest his arm for eight weeks. But he posted in his blog that he was going to try and learn to play with one arm so that he could continue to play with +44. If Def Leppard's Rick Allen can do it (even though he had no choice), who's to say that Barker can't? No +44 dates have yet been cancelled for a tour that begins in San Diego on October 13 and includes a scheduled Nov. 21 stop at Toronto's Phoenix.
Meanwhile, Barker's estranged wife, Shanna Moakler, got into a dust-up with Paris Hilton this week. TMZ.com posted a video of what it claimed was Barker and Hilton making out at a New York nightclub last month, and US reported that the pair were also spotted kissing at a Los Angeles hot spot, so Hilton's probably not too high on Moakler's favourite people list right now despite a past friendship. The two women ran into each other on Wednesday night at Hollywood's Hyde nightclub, the same spot where Avril Lavigne emerged from to go on a spitting and swearing rampage last week.
Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, told TMZ.com that Moakler was screaming profanities at his boss when she approached her around 1:10 a.m. He claimed that Moakler then punched Hilton in the jaw and had to be restrained by onlookers as the hotel heiress left the club. He said that Hilton didn't touch Moakler.
Hilton went to a nearby police station to file a battery complaint against Moakler, a former Miss USA and Playboy Playmate who was recently given the boot from the Dancing With The Stars television show.
"I would encourage Paris, with the consent of her attorney, to seek a restraining order against Moakler to prevent any escalation of this irrational and dangerous behaviour," said Mintz.
Moakler also went to the station to file a complaint against Hilton's companion and former boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos. Moakler admitted to exchanging profanities with Hilton, but claimed that Niarchos bent her wrists, poured a drink over her head and shoved her down some stairs.
"For Travis to go with her is like a double-whammy," Moakler told US. "I feel like it was done out of spite. I don't think he could've been more hurtful."
Both Barker and Hilton have denied that they're anything more than friends. Barker filed for divorce from Moakler on Aug. 8 after 22 months of marriage and having two children.
