Damien Rice To Release Follow-Up To Award-Winning O Next Month

Irish folk-rocker Damien Rice is set to release his second full-length album, simply titled 9, on Nov. 14.

Rice recorded, produced and created the artwork for 9, the follow-up to his 2003 Shortlist Music Prize-winning debut album, O. The record will be released on his own Heffa imprint in conjunction with Vector/Warner Brothers. The first single will be "9 Crimes."

Rice contributed "The Blower's Daughter" to the soundtrack of the 2004 Mike Nichols-directed film, Closer. The song, which was originally released in 2001, gained Rice more media attention and radio and video play. Other Rice tracks have also been used in films and television shows.Rice recorded "Cross-Eyed Bear," a song by his former band, Juniper, for the recently released War Child benefit album, Help: A Day In The Life.

The singer/songwriter previewed some of his new songs while opening for Fiona Apple on tour this summer. He has no tour dates planned for the rest of the year.
