Jack Johnson's Surfing Documentary Features Friends On Soundtrack

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson will showcase more than just his surfing skills with the theatrical release of his A Brokedown Melody surfing documentary next month. He's providing previously unreleased material for its soundtrack as well.

The album, which will be released on Johnson's Brushfire label on Nov. 14, will feature heretofore unheard recordings from both thelaid-back singer/surfer and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. Vedder's contribution is his ukulele tune "Goodbye," which he first performed more than four years ago during a solo show in Los Angeles.

Previously released tracks from artists such as Matt Costa, The Beta Band and M. Ward round out the collection.

The film, which follows Johnson and friends on a surf expedition across multiple continents, was released on DVD last year.

Here are the songs on the A Brokedown Melody soundtrack:

Culver City Dub Collective — "The Cave"
Jack Johnson — "Home"
Kings Of Convenience — "Know How"
Doug Martsch — "Heart (Things Never Shared)"
Eddie Vedder — "Goodbye"
Johnny Osbourne — "We Need Love"
Jack Johnson with Matt Costa and Zach Gill — "Sung"
The Beta Band — "Needles In My Eyes"
M. Ward — "Transfiguration No. 1"
