DMX Concert Ends Early After Chair-Throwing Incident

Rap star DMX may be in a bit of hot water again, and he wasn't even driving this time.
DMX (real name Earl Simmons) was headlining a concert also featuring Lloyd Banks, Yung Joc, Jim Jones and Funkmaster Flex at New York's Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night, but his set ended after just 15 minutes due to sound problems and an altercation involving fans and members of his entourage that resulted in a woman being hospitalized after being hit by a chair.
Police spokesperson Detective Sergeant Herb Daub told New York Newsday that DMX "ran back, jumped off [the] stage" during his brief performance "and started a fight with the sound person" when the audio was cut midway through his set.
According to police, DMX and his crew left the stage around 11:45 p.m., but returned minutes later and started throwing bottles of water into the crowd.
"A member of the audience picked up a steel folding chair and threw it onstage," Daub explained. "It was thrown back off by a member of DMX's entourage and it struck the victim in the head."
An unidentified 29-year-old woman was treated in hospital for a laceration she'd sustained to her head after allegedly being hit by the flying chair.
Patrol officers were called to the arena by a witness to the chair-throwing incident, and a special operations team then came in to clear out the building. Several witnesses discussed the night's events with police, who are looking for the alleged chair hurler. He's described as a black male with dreadlocks.
DMX has spent time behind bars for a series of incidents involving traffic violations, driving infractions and missed court dates.
