Emm Gryner Has High Hopes For New Album

September's arrival means summer's departure, except if you're Emm Gryner.
The Forest, Ontario native will release The Summer Of High Hopes on her own Dead Daisy label on September 26. The album came out earlier this year in Ireland, where the singer, songwriter, musician and producer made a breakthrough last year with a collection of Irish tunes called Songs Of Love And Death.
The 11-song album mixes indie rock with orchestral pop and ballads. It was co-produced by former Shudder To Think guitarist Nathan Larson, who's also Gryner's partner in the politically-charged glam/punk rock band, Hot One. The LP was recorded in a number of locations and features contributions from Matt Pond PA cellist Dana Feder, Vitaminsforyou's Bryce Kushnier and guitarist Michael Ward (Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, The Wallflowers).
Gryner, who has been a member of David Bowie and The Cardigans' touring bands over the last few years, recently played piano on the latest Def Leppard album.
Gryner will host the next Bluebird North songwriter's night — which will also include Lindy, Coco Love Alcorn, Peter Verity, Dale Nikkel, Greg Wyard and Selina Martin — at Toronto's Hugh's Room on September 19. She'll perform a homecoming show at Forest's Yoke Tavern four nights later.
Here are the songs on The Summer Of High Hopes:

“All-Time Low”
“Almighty Love”
“Blackwinged Bird”
“Black-Eyed Blue Sky”
