New Found Glory have thus far described their upcoming album as mature, whiney, hooky and full of love songs. Regardless of what it sounds like, Coming Home will be released by Geffen on September 19.
In atypical fashion for a pop-punk/emo group, the Florida-based quintet wrote their fifth LP in a Malibu, California mansion and recorded it in the California studio of '70s pop/rock star Jackson Browne. The disc was produced by Thom Panunzio (Bruce Springsteen) and features Tom Petty keyboardist Benmont Tench on a handful of tracks.
"We know it's the best thing we've ever done," guitarist Chad Gilbert told Billboard.com. "And it's something that kids have never heard before. It's different from everything out there.
As ChartAttack recently reported, New Found Glory have said that the theme of their latest effort revolves around family and wanting to go home. Coming Home's first single, "It's Not Your Fault," has been circulating since July.
Though the band have been giving mixed messages about what the disc will sound like as a whole, singer Jordan Pundik revealed to Billboard that one thing about the group has definitely changed.
"I think our fans are going to be pretty blown away by the fact that [bassist] Ian [Grushka] is wearing a shirt and pants these days. I know we are."
New Found Glory will soon embark on a lengthy worldwide tour that will see them make two stops in Canada: October 10 at Montreal's La Tulipe and October 11 at Toronto's Phoenix.
Here are the tracks on Coming Home:
