Jeremy Fisher Signs With Aquarius And Works With Hawksley Workman

Vancouver singer/songwriter Jeremy Fisher has parted company with Sony/BMG and signed with Montreal's Aquarius Records for the release of his third album.
"It's important for me to have the creative freedom they've offered and the support of a small, committed team," Fisher says of his new label. "I'm also excited to have a more hands-on approach to the marketing and promotion aspect of my career, which has been lacking in recent years.
"It was hard to part ways with Sony/BMG, but, as I changed and that company changed, we grew apart. When it became clear that we each envisioned an entirely different direction for my next album, we shook hands and went our separate ways."
Fisher will start recording his next album in mid-September, with Hawksley Workman handling production. In addition to producing his own albums, Workman has previously sat behind the console to oversee records by Sarah Slean, Cash Brothers, John Southworth, Tegan And Sara and Serena Ryder.
"He's a brilliant and direct songwriter with a bright soul," Workman said of Fisher in a recent email update of his own activities.
"He's also an avid cyclist... and bicycles always do a good bit to restore my faith in humanity. We're planning some bike trips between studio sessions."
Fisher once toured Canada on his bike, so he may arrive by pedal power at these shows:

September 4 Victoria, BC @ Centennial Square w/Great Big Sea
September 5 Waterloo, ON @ Laurel Creek Bonfire
