Here's A Surprise: Every Time I Die Have A New Bassist

Every Time I Die

When Every Time I Die cross Canada opening for Alexisonfire next month, they'll be breaking in a new bassist. But that's nothing new for the Buffalo, New York metalcore band, who go through four-string players like Spinal Tap did with drummers.

Bassist #5, Chris Byrnes, informed his four bandmates that he was leaving just as they were about to take the stage for an August 19 show in Birch Run, Michigan.

"We had gone over a year with the same bass player, and that just doesn't happen in our band," guitarist Jordan Buckley told MTV News. "If he hadn't quit, we probably would have killed him and eaten him."

Byrnes' decision to leave was apparently a financial one. He was the only member of the group paying the high rents of New York City and couldn't afford to remain doing so on ETID's touring schedule and salary.

But Byrnes isn't completely turning his back on the group, as he now has a job with Entertainment Services Unlimited, a New Jersey-based management company that represents Lamb Of God, Atreyu, From First To Last, Breaking Benjamin, Norma Jean and (drum roll, please) ETID.

The latest soldier to strap on a bass for ETID is former Chariot member Keller Harbin. He'll hopefully stay with the band through their Canadian tour and a subsequent American jaunt with Atreyu, From First To Last and Chiodos. The group plan to start writing the follow-up to last year's Gutter Phenomenon album after that and hope to release it next summer.

ETID's Shit Happens DVD, which chronicles the band's nine-year history, will arrive in stores on Halloween.
