The Flaming Lips To Release Expanded At War With The Mystics

The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips' At War With The Mystics, one of the most eagerly awaited albums of this past spring, will be reissued as an expanded two-disc collection on Oct. 24.

The original record will be augmented with outtakes "Why Does It End?," "You've Got To Hold On," "Your Face Can Tell The Future," "The Gold In The Mountain Of Our Madness," "Time Travel?? Yes!!" and a cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," which was a crowd favourite when performed in concert this year.

The expanded Warner Bros. release will also include eight songs taken from various live radio sessions, including a track that mixes Sonic Youth's "Unmade Bed" and Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter."

An accompanying DVD includes videos for "Mr. Ambulance Driver," "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" and "The W.A.N.D.," plus frontman Wayne Coyne's videotaped commencement speech for his high school alma mater in Oklahoma City.

The Lips' first live DVD, recorded in July at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, is expected early next year.

The band's tour in support of At War With The Mystics, which included an abbreviated performance at Toronto's recent Virgin Festival, ends on Sept. 25 at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom.
