Linkin Park Link With ITunes, But Still Have A Way To Go On New Album

Linkin Park ended their holdout and finally made their music available via the iTunes Music Store on Tuesday.
The band's Meteora, Reanimation and Live In Texas albums, its two Collision Course EPs (one with Jay-Z and the other with the band on their own), and the MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents: Collision Course — Numb/Encore Exclusive release (also with Jay-Z) are now available through the Apple-owned digital retailer. The digital versions of Meteora and Reanimation come with bonus tracks.
"We were really excited when iTunes told us that we were one of their most requested acts," Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda said on Billboard.com. "We will never ignore our fans, and the timing seemed right to make our music available, with some special additions."
Linkin Park are still working on the successor to 2003's Meteora with producer Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Beastie Boys). The album, which was originally supposed to have come out by Christmas through Warner Bros., will likely be pushed back until next year. It still has no title.
"We have narrowed it down to about 30-50 songs, and some of those are heavy, some are softer and some are in between," Shinoda said of the album's progress in an online chat last week. "So far it has a different sound that I cannot describe.
"It sounds like it's older, but not vintage. More organic in some spots, like just yesterday we recorded a song with no samples that is completely raw. Other songs are full of samples."
Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington will make a cameo appearance in the film Crank that opens in theatres on Friday.
