There's Light Ahead For The Darkness, Despite Singer's Stint In Rehab

Keane aren't the only British band that have a singer with a dependency problem. The Darkness were forced to cancel their appearance at Denmark's Skanderborg Festival earlier this month, and frontman Justin Hawkins has now been admitted into a rehabilitation clinic.
A doctor had ordered Hawkins to "cancel all professional commitments or work-related activities," according to a post on the somewhat campy metal band's website. There has been online speculation that The Darkness were going to be dropped from Atlantic Records since their second album, One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back, didn't perform as well as their Permission To Land debut. But the group emphasized in a message on their site that despite their singer's problems and the perception by some that they had taken a step backward, that things are all systems go with Atlantic and they look forward to working together for the release of a new Darkness album early next year.
"We are not here to comment on Justin's private life — or anyone else's for that matter — but he is feeling better already and as soon as he is ready we will be going straight into the studio to begin recording album number 3.
"We hope you would join us in wishing Justin well — and it is for you to judge if a platinum album, headlining and co-headlining sold out shows across the UK, Continental Europe and Australia, etc. to an audience of tens of thousands of adoring fans can ever be considered a failure!"
