Willie Nelson And Ryan Adams Work Together On Songbird

Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson and unpredictable roots rocker Ryan Adams collaborated on the veteran country music outlaw's forthcoming Songbird album, which will arrive in stores on Oct. 31 via Lost Highway.

Adams, 31, produced the prolific 73-year-old singer/songwriter's record, and had his band The Cardinals back him throughout it. Harmonica ace Mickey Raphael also contributed to the cause.

Nelson opens the album with a reworked version of his "Rainy Day Blues," while other originals include "Sad Songs & Waltzes" and "We Don't Run." He covers Gram Parsons' "$1000 Wedding," Christine McVie's "Songbird," Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter's "Stella Blue," Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and the traditional "Amazing Grace."

Nelson is now on tour in the U.S. and will join Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Jerry Lee Lewis at the annual Farm Aid concert in Camden, N.J. on Sept. 30.
