Jet Get A Shine On Recording Their New Disc

Australian overnight sensations Jet have emerged from their booze-fuelled recording sessions with a new album titled Shine On that will arrive in stores on Oct. 3 via Warner.

The disc was produced by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Marilyn Manson), the man responsible for Jet's popular 2003 debut, Get Born. It was written and recorded during sessions in Barbados, Los Angeles, Australia and Massachusetts.

The creation of Shine On was marred early on when singer Nic Cester and his bandmate/brother Chris lost their father to lung cancer. Nic spent time away from the band, but eventually returned and Jet gave birth to an album that he feels is leaps and bounds past Get Born.

"'Shine On' is a song I wrote from dad's perspective," Nic recently told the Los Angeles Times. "It's like his words to us, to our family.

"And there are songs about how unhappy we were. But this is Jet and there are still rock songs. 'Stand Up' is the biggest rock song in the world — like 'Cold Hard Bitch' [from Get Born] times five. Lyrically, our first album was a stinker."

"Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is" is the first single.

Jet will hit the road for a mini-tour this fall that makes one Canadian stop: Oct. 1 at Toronto's Guvernment. They're planning a full tour starting later in the year, but no dates have been set.

Here are the tracks on Shine On:
