Lil Wayne Arrested For Drug Possession

Rapper Lil Wayne was arrested in Atlanta on Monday for having less than an ounce of marijuana and possessing a controlled substance, and has since been released from jail on an $11,000 U.S. bond.
According to an arrest report obtained by MTV News, the 23-year-old artist (real name Dwayne Michael Carter) is alleged to have had several unlabelled bottles — including one containing 60 Alprazolam pills, which are used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks, and another holding 59 hydrocodone pills — along with a small amount of marijuana.
Lil Wayne was staying in a room at Atlanta's Twelve Hotel, which an employee entered to check on a problem with the security system. He noticed a bag of what he thought was marijuana, and also noticed a heavy odour of the plant. The hotel manager was called to the room, and he also smelled the pot. The MC told both of them to leave and shut the door behind them.
Police were called to the scene and were allowed in by Lil Wayne to search the room. The prescription pills were found in a small duffel bag, "two small burnt joints" were in the room's garbage can and a small amount of weed was discovered in the refrigerator.Another man, 37-year-old Derrick Lawrence, was also in Lil Wayne's room and charged for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Lil Wayne has released five albums. His most recent one, last year's Tha Carter II, debuted at #2 on Billboard's album sales chart and has sold more than a million copies in the U.S.
