New Releases: The Golden Dogs Eye Big Breakout

The Golden Dogs are known as one of Toronto's best party bands, but they don't have much of a rep outside the city. That's because lineup problems prevented them from touring the country to promote their debut.
But that's all about to change with the release of Big Eye Little Eye, which hits stores Tuesday. Not only is it one of the best CDs of the year, but the group have solidified their membership and will have the chance to tour it at home and, if the opportunity calls, abroad.
Remember when Amy Millan had a solo record out earlier this year? Well, nobody — NOBODY — upstages Torquil Campbell. That guy is an animal. To prove it, he has a side project of his own, a little band called Memphis. Their sophomore album, A Little Place In The Wilderness, is out this week and sounds a lot like Stars without Millan. Shocking.
Speaking of memory lane, remember when Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera dressed like dirty pirate hookers in order to outsell each other? Man, those were the days. Anyway, now Brit's a stay-at-club mom and Christina's cleaned up her act, mostly. Actually, she's still appearing mostly nude in almost any publication that will let her, but it all somehow seems more tasteful than the Britney-Kevin Federline circus of shame. Aguilera's Back To Basics double-disc is out on Tuesday.
