The MTV Curse Strikes Again, As Travis Barker And Wife Call It Quits

There seems to be a divorce bug floating around MTV's couple-based reality shows.

First there was the disintegration of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage, and then Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra split up. Now, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has filed for divorce from his wife of 22 months, Shanna Moakler.

The formerly happy couple had starred in Meet The Barkers, a reality show about their Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired wedding and subsequent day-to-day lives together. The show, which first aired in April 2005, lasted for 12 episodes. It dealt with such intriguing subjects as the couple picking out furniture, accidentally ordering a $10,000 Christmas tree, and Moakler becoming pregnant.

The pair have two children together, a two-year-old son named Landon and a seven-month-old daughter named Alabama. Moakler also has a seven-year-old daughter named Atiana from her previous relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya.

Rumours had been circulating that there could be trouble in paradise, and Barker and Moakler recently put their Bel-Air, Calif. mansion on the market for $8.5 million U.S.

Moakler, 31, is a former Miss USA and was the December 2001 Playboy Playmate Of The Month. She previously dated actor Dennis Quaid, who's 21 years her senior.

With the distraction of married life out of the way, 30-year-old Barker is now free to focus on his new band, Plus-44. Their Little Death debut album is tentatively scheduled for an Oct. 24 release.

Who will be the next celebrity couple to follow in these illustrious footsteps and hit the small screen and then divorce court? Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock seem like a pretty safe choice.
