Depeche Mode Releasing Live DVD/CD Package

Details about Depeche Mode's Touring The Angel live DVD/CD, due Sept. 26 courtesy of Sire/Reprise, have finally been firmed up.

The release, which will be available as a two-DVD/single CD set or as a solitary DVD, was recorded on Feb. 18 and 19 in Milan, Italy during the band's most recent tour (their first in four years) in support of last year's Playing The Angel album. The DVD was directed by Blue Leach, who has previously worked with R.E.M. and others.

"We realize this album is more tuned in to playing live, more so than Exciter or Ultra," keyboardist Andrew Fletcher told Billboard.com earlier this year. "People who have seen us say the new songs don't sound misplaced on the set list."

The first DVD features "Precious," "Suffer Well" and "A Pain That I'm Used To" from the new album, as well as such older favourites as "Enjoy The Silence," "A Question Of Lust" and "Just Can't Get Enough."

The second DVD includes a 20-minute documentary directed by photographer/director and photographer Anton Corbjin (Nirvana, Beck, Bob Dylan), who helped design the set for the tour by creating six stage screens. The second DVD also features five bonus performances plus footage of the tour's kick-off press conference in Germany.

The 30-minute CD includes eight tracks from Playing The Angel.

Depeche Mode just completed their world tour in Athens, Greece after having to cancel a planned show in Tel Aviv, Israel due to the intensifying war in the Middle East.
