Brent Wilson Taking Legal Action Against Former Panic! At The Disco Bandmates

Former Panic! At The Disco bassist Brent Wilson has initiated legal proceedings against his ex-bandmates by sending them a letter that gives them 14 days to pay him the royalties he believes he's owed from sales of their A Fever You Can't Sweat Out album. If the group don't comply by the deadline, Wilson and his lawyers will take the case to court.
"Basically, I want to get what I deserve: my fair percentage of the album," Wilson told MTV News. "We sent them the letter as a way of saying, 'Look, if you decide to give me the money I deserve — as it is written out in the contract we drew up — then great. If not, well, we're prepared to go to court."
A spokesperson for Panic! At The Disco said the band had no comment on the letter, and that they didn't even know about it until MTV News approached them.
After getting the boot from the group, Wilson took several weeks off to try and let things blow over. He was shocked and hurt when his former bandmates accused him of not playing on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, but was unsure at the time whether he would pursue legal action.
"I don't understand why they would say I didn't play on the record," he said. "I was there every day at the studio, and I wrote things and I showed [Panic! frontman] Brendon [Urie] how to play certain sections.
"We had a contract that said each member got paid individually, so legally I am due my 25 per cent from the record."
