Trivium Embark On A Metal Crusade

Metal band Trivium have completed work on their third full-length, a hasty follow-up to 2005's Ascendancy.

The Crusade, which will arrive in stores on October 10 via Roadrunner, was recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida and was produced by Trivium and Jason Suecof. Singer Matthew K. Heafy feels that the new disc is a natural progression for the group.

"As a band, you can either release the same album again, keeping the same number of people interested and not really branch out, or you can evolve. I feel that The Crusade is the next logical step in our evolution. We took one big step forward between the first two albums, but this time we've taken about 10 huge leaps forward."

Band members other than Heafy have taken a turn with the songwriting reins for the first time on The Crusade. Guitarist Corey Beaulieu wrote the music to "Unrepentant" and "Tread The Floods," while bassist Paolo Gregoletto wrote the music to "The Rising" and "To The Rats" and co-wrote "Anthem (We Are The Fire)" with Heafy. The fourth member of the group is drummer Travis Smith.

The Crusade's third track, "Detonation," is currently available for download on Roadrunner's website.Trivium have won an impressive number of industry awards, considering the brevity of their existence. Kerrang Magazine named Ascendancy its album of the year in 2005. The band was named best international newcomer at last year's Kerrang Awards, has won several Metal Hammer Magazine Golden God Awards and was chosen as Yahoo.com's artist of the month for December 2005.

Trivium are scheduled to hit the road this winter as sole support for Iron Maiden and are also planning their own tour for the fall. They're currently in the midst of the Sounds Of The Underground tour, which has these remaining stops in Canada:
