Shaun Morgan, the frontman of South African grunge band Seether, is going to enter an unnamed rehabilitation centre to receive treatment for an undisclosed substance-abuse problem.Morgan "admitted to himself and those close to him that he needs help and is making the proactive move to seek it," says a statement from the band's label, Wind-up Records.

Morgan's problem has forced Seether to cancel their 16-date August tour with Staind and Three Days Grace, which was supposed to start on August 5. The band will appear with Alice In Chains, Buckcherry and others in Oregon on Saturday before Morgan leaves to deal with his issues.

"All future plans have been placed on hold until further notice" as Morgan has "made a personal choice to attack what he sees as a dependence on a combination of substances," says the release.

Morgan apologizes for inconveniencing his band and upsetting fans. "I'm deeply sorry that this news comes right before a planned tour, especially one that I was so excited about, and I hope that everyone understands," he says."I need help with my addictions that I can't kick on my own. These things are making me sick, and could potentially harm me permanently, so I need to take care of them as soon as possible."

The release attributed Morgan's addictions to his band's intense touring schedule.

"Over the last two years, Seether has performed in excess of four hundred shows. Compounded with the stresses of promoting and supporting [2005's Karma And Effect], and then recording and promoting One Cold Night without any form of an extended hiatus, Morgan has spread himself too thin and in turn made decisions he now regrets."

Morgan's announcement comes two months after the departure of Patrick Callahan, the band's longtime touring guitarist who became a permanent member two years ago.
