New Releases: New York Dolls Drag Up New LP

New York Dolls

How long is too long? Can a band change? At what point is it weird for a man to dress in drag?

With the New York Dolls' new record, One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This, the answers are apparently never, slightly and right now (singer David Johansen has given up on the feminine look). The LP is the band's first in more than 30 years and it hits stores this week.

It's been years since Jurassic 5's days of being considered highly innovative, but that hasn't stopped them from making albums. Their new effort, Feedback, comes out Tuesday.

Remember The Neptunes? Remember when they made every single on the radio? Then remember when they completely disappeared into the pages of GQ and Esquire? Well, Pharrell has finally gotten up the nerve to release his debut solo album, In My Mind. The long-delayed record features a mind-boggling lack of guests (there are but a few) and Neptunes mate Chad Hugo. But what it lacks in production and flashiness, it makes up for in cutesy cover art. Hang it on your wall this Tuesday.

A new craze is sweeping Edmonton, and it's called "good music." Following Cadence Weapon's emergence from the scene are Shout Out Out Out Out, a dance rock band who put the fun in funriffic. Their debut LP, Not Saying/Just Saying, is out this week. We also recommend that you pick up Blood Meridian's Kick Up The Dust, because they're another swell Canadian band who people should like.
