Loose Ends: All-American Rejects Cancellations, Virgin Festival Additions And Eminem Complaint Dropped

The day after All-American Rejects performed at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre as part of Edgefest 2, doctors ordered lead singer Tyson Ritter to rest his vocal chords to prevent potential permanent damage. The group were forced to cancel their two remaining Canadian shows, July 19 at Winnipeg's Burton Cummings Theatre and July 24 at Vancouver's Croatian Cultural Centre.
Five more acts have been added to the lineup of the Virgin Festival taking place in Toronto on Sept. 9 and 10. British rock trio Muse and Halifax band Wintersleep will play on day one, while Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco, Dartmouth, N.S. rockers Matt Mays & El Torpedo and Toronto indie rock band The Diableros will perform on day two. Belgian remixers 2ManyDJs have been dropped from the bill due to scheduling conflicts.
A man who told police that he had been punched by Eminem in the men's room of a Detroit strip club last week has withdrawn his complaint against the rapper, ending a brief investigation into the matter. No reason has been given for the alleged victim's change of heart.
British rock band Kasabian and guitarist/keyboardist Chris Karloff have parted company less than two months before the release of their second album, Empire. The group released this statement on their website:
"Karloff and the band experienced certain creative and artistic differences during the writing and recording of their second album. These irreconcilable and diverging approaches resulted in the band asking Karloff to leave the group. Karloff will pursue a musical career elsewhere."
Janet Jackson followers have a chance to contribute to the artwork for her forthcoming 20 Years Old album, which is scheduled for a Sept. 26 release via Virgin. Fans can download 33 images of the wardrobe malfunction-plagued R&B star here for use as part of their own covers. Sixteen finalists will win Jackson's complete album discography on CD, while Michael Jackson's younger sister will personally choose the final four winners, whose creations will appear on selected publicly distributed copies of the album.
