Dave Navarro And Carmen Electra Lose Their Electricity

Showbusiness' favourite chest-baring couple, Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra, are separating after less than three years of marriage.

A spokesperson for Electra confirmed to the Star tabloid that the couple are parting ways "amicably" after their romance and Nov. 22, 2003 wedding were captured on video in Carmen & Dave: An MTV Love Story and Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen + Dave.

"Thanks to MTV, we can give our kids a DVD package about how their parents met and wed," Navarro said in a January 2004 interview with MTV News. "And maybe MTV can document our childbirth.

"I got some making-of home footage, then I think we're gonna do some kind of C-section delivery, so perhaps MTV can come in and shoot that."

The pair were probably too busy to have children, however. Navarro, 39, has been hosting the Rock Star television series as well as playing with The Panic Channel and Camp Freddy. Electra, 34, has occasionally performed with the Pussycat Dolls when she wasn't losing her top in various men's magazines.

Their time apart due to their work schedules had led to speculation that a break-up was imminent, but both parties denied the gossip until this week.

"Are we getting a divorce?" the former Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist wrote on his website on April 16.

"Are we having a baby?

"Are we doing sex aerobatics? Well, none of these things are true. However, I wouldn't mind trying the sex aerobatics thing!"

Electra — who was befriended by Prince and released a self-titled album in 1993, posed in Playboy, had regular television roles on Baywatch and MTV's Singled Out, appeared in such films as Scary Movie, Scary Movie 4, Good Burger and Starsky & Hutch, and starred in the Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease series of DVDs — was interviewed in the upcoming issue of Self magazine and seemed happy with her home life, which included going to the paint store and jamming to Led Zeppelin songs with her hubby.

"I'm the most secure in myself now, so that makes me feel happy," Electra told the magazine. "I've felt bad long enough, and I'm over it."

Electra had also told Star that she was unconcerned with gossip about the state of her relationship with Navarro and that she was looking to have a baby in 2008.

"It's a huge commitment and I want to enjoy being married for a little bit first," she said, while obviously not defining what she considered to be "a little bit."

Electra was married to former basketball star and notorious bad boy Dennis Rodman for less than five months in 1998 and 1999. She also dated Motley Crue drummer and noted swordsman Tommy Lee for a while.

Navarro, who apparently has never met a shirt button that he could do up, had been married and divorced twice before trying his luck with Electra.
