Sigur Ros Release New EP/DVD Package

Sigur Ros pre-released a new EP/DVD on iTunes on Tuesday, and the two-disc package will arrive in North American stores on August 8 courtesy of Worker's Institute — an eclectic Los Angeles-based label that has released music by fellow Icelandic musicians Amiina and Johann Johannsson.
Saeglopar features one track ("Saeglopur") from last year's Takk album and three previously unreleased songs. The DVD features three videos that were recently used by the BBC in the trailers for its Wimbledon tennis tournament coverage.
Sigur Ros blend minimalist and classical sounds to create intimate and moving atmospheric music. The band, whose name translates to Victory Rose in English, formed in 1994 and have gained a large cult audience since the release of 1999's acclaimed Agaetis Byrjun. Their music has been used in several films, including Vanilla Sky and The Life Aquatic, as well as such television programs as CSI.
After playing North America earlier this year, Sigur Ros embarked on a European tour that will conclude with a July 30 homecoming show that will be broadcast to the National Film Theatre in London, England live via satellite.
Worker's Institute, meanwhile, has expanded its horizons beyond Icelandic music and will release Peter And The Wolf's Lightness this fall. The Red Hunter-led Austin, Texas band are known for performing at odd locations, including graveyards, an abandoned bus and an island accessible only by canoe.
The label will also release Wolves, the debut album from Glasgow, Scotland's My Latest Novel. To keep up its Icelandic quota, Worker's Institute will issue a three-track single from Amiina in October.
