Loose Ends: Pilate Become Pilot Speed, Miniatures Robbed And Axl's Out Of Jail

MapleMusic Recordings band Pilate have changed their name to Pilot Speed worldwide and effective immediately.
The Toronto-based band's second album, Sell Control For Life's Speed, was released domestically in April and will be issued internationally through Wind-up Entertainment soon. The band will wrap up a national tour in support of the new album with shows at Toronto's Kool Haus on Thursday and the L3 Nightclub in St. Catharines, Ontario on Friday.
Another Maple band, Kitchener, Ont.'s The Miniatures, had to cut their western Canadian tour in support of their Dead Flowers album short after their van, trailer and all of their gear were stolen in Edmonton on Saturday night.
The band were flown home by manager Dan Brooks on Monday. A benefit concert to raise funds to replace the stolen goods will take place at The Pavillion in Kitchener on July 8. Labelmates Danny Michel and The Marble Index will also be on the bill.
On a more positive note, The Miniatures just signed with U.K. label High Coin, which will release Dead Flowers late this year.
Who fans will be able to download the British rock legends' entire July 2 concert at Hyde Park in London, England from the TheWhoLive website for just 99 cents.
The band had previously made three tracks available from other tour stops. Money raised from the Hyde Park concert downloads will benefit various charities supported by guitarist Pete Townshend's Double O charity.
A sobered-up Axl Rose was released from a Stockholm, Sweden jail late on Tuesday following his arrest for damaging property, assaulting a security guard and threatening police following an altercation at a hotel after a Guns N' Roses concert.
Rose agreed to pay a fine of $5,500 U.S. and he was also ordered to pay $1,300 in damages to the security guard whom he bit and assaulted during the melee. Rose made it to Oslo, Norway in time for his band's next show on Wednesday night.
Boy George will serve five days of court-ordered community service working for New York City's sanitation department as part of a March plea bargain agreement he made after confessing to filing a false burglary report.
The 45-year-old former Culture Club singer has been threatened with jail time if he doesn't fulfill his obligation by August 28.
