Kasabian Strike Back With Empire

Leicester, England quintet Kasabian will be back with their sophomore album, Empire, on Sept. 12.
The RCA release was produced by Jim Abiss (Arctic Monkeys, Placebo, Paul Oakenfold) and follows the band's self-titled debut, which went double-platinum in the U.K. Most of the record was recorded in five weeks at Rockfield Studios in Wales, and new material was written throughout the recording process.
Kasabian — comprised of Tom Meighan (vocals), Sergio Pizzorno (lead guitar, keyboards), Chris Edwards (bass) and Ian Matthews (drums) — say this record isn't only more personal, but also darker and sexier than their previous effort. Meighan describes the title track as "Marc Bolan smoking crack with Dr. Who."
"We've gone from on the farm smoking shitloads of hash and coming up with a load of mashed up tunes, to this time being more 'royal,' should I say?" Meighan said in an interview with NME.com. "We've just took it to another level and raised the stakes."
Kasabian will tour in support of the new album following several gigs opening for The Rolling Stones in Europe and a performance at the V Festival in the U.K.
