Vedder And Homme Join The Strokes On Marvin Gaye Cover

The Strokes

The Strokes invited Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme to the studio to contribute to their cover of Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me."

Homme joined The Strokes' Fabrizio Moretti on drums, while Vedder added his vocals to those of frontman Julian Casablancas. The song will be the b-side of The Strokes' "You Only Live Once" single that's expected to be released in mid-July.

The video for "You Only Live Once" was shot in late April in Los Angeles by director Sam Bayer.

Vedder joined The Strokes on stage to sing "Juicebox" last month at Rolling Stone's 1,000th issue party at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City (where the band also played "Walk On The Wild Side" with Lou Reed). Strokes members also attended two recent Pearl Jam shows while the grunge veterans were in their hometown.

The Strokes are touring in support of their third album, First Impressions Of Earth. The band played shows in eight Canadian cities last month as part of the tour.
