Chart correspondent Nardwuar The Human Serviette and Vancouver photographer Bev Davies have teamed up to produce a calendar featuring a variety of shots and interviews about each of the primary subjects.
The 40-page Nardwuar The Human Serviette Vs. Bev Davies: A 2007 Punk Rock Calendar will arrive in stores on September 12 courtesy of Mint Records. It runs from December 2006 to December 2007 and includes a one-page 2008 calendar as well as Mint and Nardwuar Records discographies. In addition to the monthly sections, there are eight additional pages with more photos and Nardwuar-Davies conversations.
The calendar will come shrink-wrapped with a corrugated Mint Christmas card cardboard stiffener and two stickers. It will be made available in Canada through Outside Distribution and Scratch Records, as well as on Nardo's website.
Davies, who's been called "the best photo taker in the whole world," by Belfast, Northern Ireland punk greats Stiff Little Fingers, grew up in Toronto and almost moved to California with Neil Young. She later moved to Vancouver, where she took a slew of photos for the Georgia Straight, Slash, Damaged and many other publications in the '70s and '80s. No photos in the calendar were taken after 1982.
In addition to his work for Chart, Nardwuar will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his radio show on Vancouver's CITR FM 101.9 next year. He released a two-DVD set titled Doot Doola Doot Doo... Doot Doot! earlier this year and has put out a number of records with his band The Evaporators and various spin-off groups.
