Loose Ends: Eminem Ringtone Lawsuits, Doherty In Rehab And More DMX Charges

Eminem

Eminem's music publishing companies have reached an undisclosed settlement with Cellus USA after the company was sued for illegally selling the rapper's ringtones.

They've also filed lawsuits against FanMobile, Nextones.com, myPhonefiles, MatrixM and Phattones Media Productions and are seeking a court order prohibiting those companies from doing likewise. Nextones.com failed to respond after being served with legal notices and a default judgment of $195,000 U.S. was awarded to Eminem on May 16. The money hasn't yet been collected. Eminem's lawyer, Howard Hertz, also plans on taking legal action on distributors who sell his client's songs to karaoke bars without obtaining proper licenses.

Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has entered a rehabilitation clinic in Portugal to try and beat his drug addiction.

NME.com reports that he'll spend the next few weeks detoxifying and will then be fitted with "an opiate-suppressing implant." Doperty has been in rehab before, but it hasn't helped. He was held in custody earlier this month after a syringe was found on an EasyJet flight between London and Barcelona. No charges were laid by Spanish police, but Doperty has been banned from flying with the airline again.

Rapper DMX is facing more charges after being pulled over in his Chevy Suburban last Friday for speeding and making unsafe lane changes.

Police discovered that he wasn't wearing a seat belt and didn't have a driver's licence after he was stopped. He was given a ticket and told to appear in court on June 16.

DMX (real name Earl Simmons) served 70 days in jail for violating his parole following a 2004 incident where he crashed his sport utility vehicle through a security gate at Kennedy International Airport. He also has previous speeding violations and was arrested in London, England last month after allegedly refusing to put on a seat belt and being abusive during a flight from New York City.

American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry has turned down Fuel's offer to become their new lead singer. Fuel bassist Jeff Abercrombie and guitarist Carl Bell extended the invitation to replace Brett Scallions, who left the group in February, on the Extra television show. Daughtry will spend his summer touring across the U.S. with other Idol finalists.
