Loose Ends: MMVA Performers, Broken Mascis Scene And Mariah's Billion-Dollar Legs

Nelly Furtado with Timbaland, Fall Out Boy, Rihanna, Hedley, Nick Lachey, Simple Plan, City And Colour and Metric have been confirmed to perform at the 17th annual MuchMusic Video Awards at Much's downtown Toronto environment on June 18. The names of presenters and other guests will be announced shortly.
Broken Social Scene and J Mascis will team up to become Broken Mascis Scene and perform Dinosaur Jr. songs in a fundraising concert at Toronto's Mod Club Theatre on June 23. Proceeds from the event will go to the Amma Foundation, which seeks out and participates in programs to help poor and destitute people through donations of money, food, clothing and education.
Mariah Carey has reportedly insured her legs for $1 billion U.S. after becoming the centrepiece of Gillette's "Legs Of A Goddess" advertising campaign. Carey's valuable gams will also come in handy on her first tour since 2003, which includes shows at Toronto's Air Canada Centre on Aug. 13, Montreal's Bell Centre on Aug. 15 and Vancouver's General Motors Place on Sept. 23.
The Black Keys have been in label limbo since leaving Fat Possum, but they'll be joining the likes of Wilco and Magnetic Fields on Nonesuch for the Sept. 12 release of their The Magic Potion album. The Akron, Ohio duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are playing a few shows with Radiohead this month (including June 10 and 11 at Montreal's Salle Wilfrid Pelletier Palace) and are expected to go out on their own in support of the new album in the fall.
