Pilate Sign Multi-Faceted Deal With Wind-up

The top decision-makers at Wind-up Entertainment must be avid Chart readers, as they've just signed the May issue's coverboys to a multi-level deal.

The American label has finalized an exclusive agreement with Pilate that encompasses recording, publishing, merchandising, touring, sponsorship and endorsement activities on a global basis, excluding Canada. The Toronto rock band will maintain its current affiliation with MapleMusic Recordings at home.

The quartet, fronted by New Zealand-born singer/lyricist Todd Clark, released their six-song For All That's Given, Wasted EP in 2001. But they really made a name for themselves with 2003's full-length Maple debut, Caught By The Window. The album's "Into Your Hideout" single/video was a major hit, was nominated for a Juno Award and helped enable Pilate to tour extensively.

The group's new album, Sell Control For Life's Speed, debuted in the top 20 of the national sales chart last week.

"We have admired Pilate's impressive success in Canada, and look forward to bringing their extraordinary artistry and spectacular live show to both the U.S. and abroad," says Wind-up president Ed Vetri.

Wind-up was the label that brought you Creed, and its current roster includes Scott Stapp, Evanescence, Seether, People In Planes and Drowning Pool.

Pilate finished an Ontario tour last month and will be playing these venues with People In Planes and Wintersleep in June:
