Loose Ends: Made In Canada In England, Karl Wolf In Dubai And Swift In Jail

Buck 65

More than 180 acts from around the world have been booked to play The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, England from May 18-20, and 16 of them are Canadian.

There will be three nights of Made In Canada shows during the event, which includes panels, discussions and celebrity interviews during the day. The Canucks strutting their stuff at the fest will be Buck 65, Controller.Controller, Holy Fuck, Leeroy Stagger, You Say Party! We Say Die!, Blood Meridian, Metric, Novillero, The High Dials, City & Colour, DJ Champion, Immaculate Machine, Kiss Me Deadly, Magneta Lane, Plaster and Small Sins.

While all of those acts will be in the U.K., Montreal R&B singer Karl Wolf will be heading to the United Arab Emirates to open for Jennifer Lopez at the Dubai Autodrome on May 25. Wolf's Face Behind The Face solo debut was released in Canada on Valentine's Day and has just come out in the Middle East. Wolf is planning a Canadian tour for the summer.

D12 member Swift (real name Ondre Moore) was sentenced to 93 days in jail for violating probation by using alcohol, which he was banned from doing after being convicted of drunken driving last year. The 31-year-old was picked up on a bench warrant on April 19 after he missed a court appearance to serve as an honourary pallbearer at the funeral of his D12 bandmate, Proof.

A woman who claims that she was the "star" of the infamous 1999 Scott Stapp/Kid Rock sex tape had her invasion of privacy lawsuit dismissed by a judge who said that she couldn't sue as long as she remains anonymous.

The woman, who used the name Jane Doe in her suit, was told that she could refile within 20 days if she was willing to have her name included in the paperwork. The woman was seeking to prevent the sale of the video and unspecified damages and named Stapp and World Wide Red Light District as defendants.
