Yellowcard And Subways Cancel Shows Due To Throat Problems

Yellowcard

Yellowcard have been forced to postpone a number of U.S. concerts due to singer Ryan Key's continuing problems with his vocal chords.

Key has been battling the malady for the past six months and Yellowcard was forced to cancel some U.K shows in December after he developed a nodule on his vocal chords. More shows were deep-sixed the following month while the band were supposed to support their new Lights And Sounds album. Key had recovered enough to play some shows, but now a cyst has been found on his vocal chords and he must undergo surgery.

"We're disappointed to be postponing these dates, but it's a relief to know the source of the problems I'd been having with my voice," says Key. "And it's much better to confront it now [rather] than later when it could be more serious. We'll be back on the road in June when we can give 100 per cent."

British band The Subways are in the same boat as Yellowcard, as they've been forced to cancel their North American tour and put off a handful of European shows after singer Billy Lunn was diagnosed with nodules on his vocal chords. He's been ordered to stop performing and receive treatment for the problem. The Subways hope to reschedule their cancelled U.K. dates and are expected to resume touring in June.
