Roxy Music's New Album Won't Include Brian Eno

Brian Eno recently visited the members of Roxy Music while they were in the studio but, despite what you may have read elsewhere, the veteran musician/producer isn't rejoining the band.
Roxy are recording their first new studio album since 1982's Avalon. In advance of that LP, they plan on releasing a remix album where various DJs and producers will put their own spin on songs from Roxy and frontman Bryan Ferry's back catalogue. While it's possible (though unlikely) that Eno could be one of those producers, it was made perfectly clear on the EnoWeb site that he's in no way associated with the latest Roxy revival.
"Brian has no involvement with the band's current recording or tour plans," said a news update on the site. "All that happened was that Brian popped in to visit the members of the group when they were in the studio.
"Hearing of this, some journalist somewhere decided that it is a truth universally acknowledged that a solo artist in possession of a fine career must be in want of tinsel jackets, peacock feathers, ego clashes, laundry ruminations and everything else that goes with rejoining a band he left 33 years ago. Great oak false rumours from tiny fact acorns grow."
Roxy formed in 1971 and combined glam and art rock with pop hooks to create a sound that influenced new wave bands later that decade and still does today. Eno left after the group's second album, 1973's For Your Pleasure, and has since made music on his own and with others, but is probably best known for producing David Bowie, Talking Heads and U2.
Roxy went on to record six more studio albums and such classic songs as "All I Want Is You," "Love Is The Drug," "Dance Away," "More Than This" and "Take A Chance With Me" after Eno's departure before splitting up. They reunited to tour in 2001 and have done so on a fairly regular basis since then, prompting demand for new material.
