Loose Ends: Juno Presenters, Leahy Bus Crash And More Lawsuits

Feist, Great Big Sea's Alan Doyle and Bob Hallett, Hot Hot Heat, Jann Arden, Joel Plaskett, Jully Black, Kalan Porter, Kardinal Offishall, K-OS, Luke Doucet, Martha Wainwright, Rex Goudie, Sophie Milman, Jason McCoy, Skye Sweetnam, Melissa O'Neil and Olympic gold medal-winning curler Brad Gushue have all been confirmed as presenters for the April 2 Juno Awards in Halifax.
A woman drove head-on into Leahy's tour bus on Interstate 84 outside Danbury, Conn. early on Saturday morning and was killed instantly. The eight members of the Lakefield, Ont. Celtic family band were uninjured.
The woman, 21-year-old Jeri DeFabbia, was travelling west in the eastbound lane at around 1:30 a.m. when the accident occurred. DeFabbia had apparently spent Friday night at a Saint Patrick's Day party at a local club. Leahy had performed in West Point, N.Y. and were headed to another show in New Bedford, Mass. The bus sustained damage but the group were able to perform the concert.
An injunction against World Wide Red Light District has been extended, preventing the company from distributing or promoting the infamous video featuring Kid Rock and Scott Stapp enjoying the sexual services of four strippers. Lawyers for Rock and the video company agreed to the deal, and a court hearing has been scheduled to determine the final fate of the clip.
Aston Barrett, the longtime bassist for Bob Marley And The Wailers, is suing Universal-Island Records for $105 million U.S. Barrett's deceased brother, Carlton, who played drums in the band, is also part of the lawsuit.
Barrett, nicknamed "Family Man," claims that he's owed royalties from a 1974 contract with Island as well as earnings from songs that he co-wrote with Marley, who died of brain cancer at age 36 in 1981. The record company had tried to have the case thrown out of court because Barrett had previously accepted a settlement.
"We All Need Love: A Tribute To Domenic Troiano," hosted by the late guitarist/composer/producer's family, will be held at Joe Badali's Ristorante in Toronto on April 20.
Troiano - who played with Ronnie Hawkins, Mandala, The James Gang and The Guess Who - died last May at age 59 after a 10-year battle with cancer. Radio personality John Donabie will host the charity event, while the house band will be comprised of Bernie LaBarge, Howard Ayee, Whitey Glan, Michael Sloski and Doug Riley.
The $60 admission price includes a light dinner and the money raised will go to the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation, which is selling advance tickets along with The Orbit Room and Joe Badali's.
Still on the April 20 fundraising front, Indiepolitik is holding an event at The Boat in Toronto to raise money for the Regent Park School Of Music.
A team of DJs will be playing Alice Cooper's "School's Out" non-stop for six straight hours, and people are invited to raise pledges or pay the $5 cover to put toward the cause.
The group has held similar nights featuring Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and has raised almost $1,500 for charity.
