The Rise And Fall Of New My Chemical Romance Material

My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance made some very useful connections when they opened for Green Day on the spring leg of the 2005 American Idiot tour. In particular, longtime Green Day producer Rob Cavallo, who has been snatched up to produce MCR's new album.

The New Jersey pop-punk band began work on basic writing and demo sessions last week in the Paramour, a 70-year-old mansion overlooking Los Angeles in the oh-so-hip Silverlake neighbourhood. The album is tentatively titled The Rise And Fall Of My Chemical Romance.

For the follow-up to 2004's platinum-selling Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, Cavallo (who's also produced the Goo Goo Dolls, Michelle Branch and every Green Day album since 1994's Dookie) said the plan is to work on the new material until April 10, at which point he and the band will move into an undisclosed Burbank studio to record the new effort.

"We're working on stuff, just getting it together and making demos," Cavallo told MTV News. "And from what we've got so far, I think the record is going to be awesome.

"The songs are wicked. There's some really dark stuff and some touches of Queen and The Doors. And there's some really experimental parts that sound a bit like System Of A Down. But all of that is mixed with a big shot of My Chemical Romance."

No date has been set for completion, but Cavallo expects that the album will be out sometime this year.
