Eagles Of Death Metal Live And Die By Being Sexy

Eagles Of Death Metal

Heavy-hitting rockers Eagles Of Death Metal say they haven't changed their formula on the follow-up to 2004's Peace, Love & Death Metal.

"There isn't anything under the sun that's new, so you can't really invent anything yourself," singer Jesse "The Devil" Hughes told MTV News. "I'd rather be compared to someone I love than try to make something different. I just want to make Little Richard proud. And I don't think that's a bad goal."

The new album, Death By Sexy, comes out on April 11 on Rekords Rekords. It features 13 tracks recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California. Nirvana, Cheap Trick and Fleetwood Mac have all created musical history in the space and, while recording there, EODM set up their vocal booth at the very spot that Rick Springfield recorded "Jessie's Girl."

"My name's Jesse, so as you can imagine, it was magic," said Hughes.

Eagles Of Death Metal began after Hughes approached high school friend and Queens Of The Stone Age leader Josh Homme to start the rock band they had always talked about forming. Since then, a huge cast of musicians have come and gone from the group.

"This ain't no Bible study," emphasized Hughes. "It's rock and roll.

"And when [Death By Sexy hits stores], I am expecting riches beyond my wildest dreams and bikini girls every night, because it's sex rock and I made it for ladies everywhere."

The video for first single "I Want You So Hard" was shot two months ago by Akiva Schaffer. The clip includes cameos from Jack Black and Foo Fighter Dave Grohl and features Hughes "blowing everyone's clothes off through the power and majesty of rock and roll."

The band are currently opening for The Strokes on tour in the U.S. and will perform at the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in California at the end of April. They're planning a fall tour of their own, but no details are available yet.

Here's the morbidly sensual track list for Death By Sexy:
