Kanye West Takes On Hollywood

Kanye West has helped direct videos for his hit singles such as "Jesus Walks," "Workout Plan" and most recently "Touch The Sky," so it only seems natural that the man who smoothly transitioned from mega-producer to mega-rapper is now setting his sights on sliding into the film world.
Not one to be humble about his accomplishments and talent, West has signed to appear in and executive produce a movie inspired by his own tunes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, new and previously released songs by West will weave through a "multiperspective portrait of the United States as seen through the eyes of West and several filmmakers." Short stories linked by one central story will be created by six writers and 10 to 12 directors for the project.
Richard Brown, one of the film's producers, told the Reporter, "This project will synthesize Kanye's vision with a fantastic group of filmmakers and create what will be a one-of-a-kind film experience."
George C. Wolfe, the Emmy-winning director of HBO's TV mini-series Lackawanna Blues, will be the executive producer of the picture. West, the Grammy-winning rapper/producer, was announced Thursday as one of the headliners for this year's Lollapalooza, which takes place in his hometown, Chicago.
