Loose Ends: Pearl Jam In Toronto, Final Juno Lineup And Stolen Band Gear

Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam will launch the first leg of their 2006 world tour in Toronto with two shows at the Air Canada Centre on May 9 and 10. My Morning Jacket will be the opening act for the shows and the entire tour. No other Canadian dates have been announced. Ticket sale information will be announced on March 20.

"Toronto is a great city," says Pearl Jam's Mike McCready of the band's decision to start the tour in support of their forthcoming self-titled album in Toronto. "We just had an amazing tour in Canada last fall. We were there right in the middle of making this record and it was incredibly inspiring. We're all excited to play there again so soon."

Buck 65, Divine Brown and Massari were the final performers added to the talent lineup for the April 2 Juno Awards show at Halifax's Metro Centre. They join The Black Eyed Peas, Hedley, Bedouin Soundclash, Broken Social Scene, Coldplay, Michael Buble, Nickelback and Bryan Adams.

Both The Fembots and Brian Borcherdt had gear stolen during Canadian Music Week, and they're asking for help to recover it.

The Fembots are missing an Anjo acoustic guitar with a single coil pick-up built into the neck and another pick-up in the sound hole. It has one volume knob and a "very cheap" pick-up selector switch. There's a pink star-shaped Lederhosen Lucil sticker on the body behind the bridge. If you've got information, email fembots@fembots.net.

Borcherdt lost his laptop computer, which he uses to make music in Holy Fuck, and its carrying case, which contained a journal full of songs, lyrics and contacts. He's offering a $500 reward for their return to his abode at 806 Ossington Ave., Toronto, ON, M6G 3V1. You can also email melissag@idirect.com with information.

Boy George made a plea bargain deal in a New York City courtroom on Wednesday that will allow him to stay out of jail.

The former Culture Club frontman has agreed to enter a drug rehab program in England and perform five days of community service in Manhattan. He also paid a $1,000 U.S. fine and must avoid arrest for the next six months.

The singer (real name George O'Dowd) must return to court on June 9 with written proof of his stay in a rehab program. He was arrested last October after calling 911 to report an alleged burglary at his Manhattan apartment. When police arrived, they found a small pile of cocaine beside a computer. He was charged with making a false report to police as well as for having the cocaine.

As part of his deal with the court, he pleaded guilty to the first charge while the second one was dropped.

Bobby Brown has been arrested for minor motor vehicle infractions that date back 14 years.

The 37-year-old R&B singer was in Webster, Mass. to watch his daughter in a high-school cheerleading competition when police ran a warrant check on him and found old misdemeanor charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and having an uninsured motor vehicle trailer.

He was allowed to drive with his bodyguard to the local police station after the cheerleading event, where he was detained for an hour and then released on a $40 U.S. bond. While Brown lives in Alpharetta, Ga. with wife Whitney Houston, he has two children with Kim Ward of Stoughton, Mass.

He was sentenced to 90 days in prison in 2004 for missing three months of child-support payments to Ward, but the sentence was suspended when he made back payments of $15,000.

Rod Stewart has been ordered to pay $3.06 million U.S. in restitution for canceling a December 2000 show at the Rio hotel/casino in Las Vegas.

A judge also ordered the rocker-turned-crooner's lawyers to pay an additional $153,483 in contempt-of-court sanctions and legal costs for failing to supply information to attorneys for Harrah's Entertainment before trial last year.

Stewart intends to appeal the verdict and award. The award covers the $2-million advance Stewart was paid for the concert and more than $1 million in interest, penalties and legal fees. Stewart and his lawyers are jointly responsible for paying the sanctions.

The former member of The Faces was unable to play the 2000 New Year's weekend show due to throat surgery that he had undergone months earlier, but he kept the advance.
