Coldplay Contest Will Let Canadian Fans Film Concert For DVD

Coldplay will film their sold-out March 22 and 23 concerts at Toronto's Air Canada Centre in high definition for a DVD release and they want fans to do some of the dirty work.

Beginning on March 6, in conjunction with Global Television, the Coldplay Fan-Cam Contest will give five lucky fans the chance to film the concert and submit the footage for an extra feature on the DVD.

"Several of our all-time favourite gigs have happened in Canada, so what better place to film our shows," says the band's Chris Martin.

To win the coveted camera job, fans have to watch Entertainment Tonight Canada at 7 p.m., listen for the "Coldplay Song Of The Night" and then log on to www.globaltv.com to enter.

Winners will be flown to Toronto from anywhere in the country and will be given a digital video camera to record their version of the March 22 show. They'll be able to keep the camera, but will have to give up their tapes for the band's DVD.

Coldplay's X&Y debuted on the sales chart at #1 and has gone triple-platinum in Canada. It's nominated for the best international album at this year's Juno Awards, where they're set to perform.
