Cadence Weapon Assaults Stores With Debut Album

Though Edmonton's Cadence Weapon is only 19 years old, he's already making waves in the hip-hop industry. Known for his Cadence Weapon Is The Black Hand remix collection and his work on the "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?" single, the teenager is now releasing his Breaking Kayfabe debut full-length album via Upper Class Recordings.
Cadence Weapon, born Roland Pemberton to a father who was a Brooklyn, NY DJ, has been referred to as a "young Canuck Roots Manuva" regarding his rapping style, while his electro-dance-influenced beats and production skills have been drawing comparisons to The Neptunes and Missy Elliott. This should all be evident when Breaking Kayfabe hits stores on December 6 via the Sonic Unyon-distributed Toronto-based Upper Class label.
Cadence Weapon has already been a hip-hop reviewer for Pitchfork and Stylus Magazine as well as the creator of the critically acclaimed Razor Blade Runner MP3 blog site, where he's posted many of his remixes. His skill as a producer and mixer caught the attention of not only Upper Class, but also of Def Jam Records, which asked him to remix Lady Sovereign's "Blah Blah Blah" single. The artist opened for Lady Sovereign at shows in Montreal and Toronto on December 2 and 3. Here's the track list for Breaking Kayfabe:
Oliver Square

Grim Fandango
Black Hand
30 Seconds
Diamond Cutter
Holy Smoke
