Kabbalah enthusiast Madonna was rushed to hospital on Tuesday when a birthday celebration turned upside-down.

According to Reuters, Madge, who turned 47 on Tuesday, was riding on a new horse at her English country estate with an assistant. The singer fell, breaking her collarbone, fracturing a hand and cracking three ribs. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and is expected to be released later on Tuesday night.

"But she did suffer a few breaks, so she's pretty banged up, obviously," her publicist said. Madonna, her husband and two children moved into the 18th century estate (worth about $19 million Canadian) three years ago. In a bid to adopt every aspect of a well-to-do Briton's lifestyle, Madonna is said to enjoy horse riding, hunting and shooting birds.

However, she took time out from these gentle pursuits to give a rousing performance at London's Live 8, 20 years after she performed at the original Live Aid. Madonna's new CD , the dance-centric Confessions On A Dance Floor, is due this November. She is planning to release a DVD of her Re-Invention Tour in time for Christmas.
