DMX Faces Jail For Violating His Plea Deal Conditions

Lil' Kim may have been the first major rap star to be sentenced to a year in jail this year, but DMX might not be far behind.
According to The New York Times, the rapper is facing up to a year behind bars for violating the terms of a plea deal for claiming to be a federal agent to steal a car that he agreed to in December.
DMX (real name Earl Simmons) was given a conditional discharge in exchange for pleading guilty to numerous charges, including reckless endangerment. The court ruled that as long as DMX stayed out of trouble (or limited his driving to off-road vehicles in Sum 41 videos) for one year, he could avoid jail time.
Since then, however, the rapper found himself in the middle of several traffic infractions. He was arrested for speeding on one occasion and on another was booked for allegedly causing a three-car crash in New York. Following up on their word, the authorities charged DMX with violating the conditions of his guilty plea.
The rapper appeared at a Queens Criminal Courtroom on Monday and was released on $500 U.S. bail with instructions to return there on October 11.
DMX was previously arrested for swearing during a show in St. Kitts and for missing a court date in New York.
