Former LFO Lead Singer Battles Leukemia

LFO

Rich Cronin, lead singer of former teen heartthrobs LFO has been hospitalized with leukemia.

Cronin was diagnosed on March 28 with acute myelogenous leukemia. He is currently receiving treatment at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre near Boston, his hometown.

MTV.com reports Cronin went through his first session of chemotherapy last week, but is still unsure if the cancer will go into remission. The former pop sensation has been relatively quiet since the demise of his band LFO, and was working on his inaugural solo project.

In late February, Cronin reportedly started to feel chronically "tired" and started getting "pretty sharp headaches." Initially, the pop singer dismissed the symptoms, but consulted a doctor when they persisted. Upon finishing his recording in New York, he went back home to Boston, where he ultimately discovered the bad news.

Since being diagnosed, a number of other pop stars, including Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees, Jordan Knight formerly of New Kids On The Block and Cronin's former bandmates Devin Lima and Brad Fischetti, have publicly offered support.

"With all of your love, support and prayers, he will pull through this," Lima said in a posting on his website.

Since being stricken with the illness, Cronin said his entire outlook on life has changed. Proceeds of his upcoming release will go towards the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
