U2 fans wait no more. Tour dates have finally been announced. Although those of us Canadians who don’t live on the west coast are going to have to wait a little longer.

The first leg of the U2 Vertigo Tour has been announced by Clear Channel, with 13 spring dates scheduled in North America, before they head off to Europe. Only one of the current is in Canada — at Vancouver’s General Motors Place on April 2.

Ticket details for this show have yet to be announced. Tickets for the first few shows will go on sale on January 29. As we have already reported, U2 have taken a similar approach to pricing as they did with the Elevation Tour in 2001. The lowest price tickets will be general admission floor tickets that have the best view of the stage. These will go for $49.50 U.S. with the rest ranging up to $165 U.S. Canadian ticket prices have not yet been confirmed. There will be a limit of eight tickets per person and a maximum of only two general admission floor tickets per person. American rockers Kings Of Leon will provide support on these dates.

Fans have been expecting to hear these dates since the November release of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. The dates were supposed to have been announced on January 10, but were postponed due to routing issues.

After the North American tour, the band will head to Europe where they’ll do a 24-stop tour that starts in Belgium on June 10.. The tour’s last stop is currently on August 14 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Although their stop in Vancouver is the only Canadian date announced right now, another trip around North America is excepted in the future, so stay tuned here for more U2 tour announcements.
