FUBAR Spawns A Book Dedicated To Givin'r

FUBAR metalheads Terry Cahill and Dean Murdoch probably don't get much credit for their book-smarts. Despite their reading skills, this October will give fans the chance to see just how well the two characters can write. As they're both fictional themselves, they should do fine.
Just Give'r: A Handguide By Terry & Dean will feature the gruesome twosome's first foray into the literary spotlight and give us a look inside the minds of the rockers who found fame in the 2002 mockumentary, FUBAR.
The indie film was shot by Michael Dowse and centered around Terry and Dean's drunken exploits and rowdy parties. It was a laugh-your-ass-off look at headbanger culture, written by David Lawrence and Paul Spence, who also starred as the metal-mad duo. The fake doc was a hit, first featured in that year's Sundance Film Festival and went on to sell over 30,000 copies in Canada, as well as finding distribution worldwide. Rave reviews and word-of-mouth earned the movie a cult status and a fanbase as loyal as Terry and Dean are to their Pilsner beer.
The upcoming book could be considered something of a lifestyle guide (if you're sick of self-help this should damage you up plenty) and features advice on how to really give'r in a wide range of subjects. These include camping, self-representation in court, medical care and "romancing your old lady." So if you need help learning how to go on your own bender or just how to skip work and spend the afternoon getting trashed, this may be the book for you.
While stuff like that might seem pretty self-explanatory, you can expect the book to also feature some typically raunchy and offensive Terry and Dean humour. Just Give'r follows in FUBAR's footsteps and is being released independently, by the film's creators. They turned down several book deals to try putting it out it as an "experiment in self-publishing," so if you're interested in picking it up, check out the film's website.
You can pre-order the book (which will officially be released in October) at the site and check out some of the art by Calgary-based rock 'n' roll illustrator Tom Bagley.
