Neko Case Roars Like A Tiger

Remember back in March when we told you that the lovely Neko Case was hooking up with longtime pals The Sadies to record a live album in Toronto? Well, that live album will be in your hot little hands before the winter holidays.
The live disc, The Tigers Have Spoken, will be released by Mint Records in Canada on November 9. To spread the Neko gospel as far and wide as possible, the Mint people have licensed the disc to the Epitaph imprint Anti- (home of Tom Waits, among others), who'll release it to the rest of the world. The Tigers Have Spoken was recorded at seven shows in Toronto and Chicago, with The Sadies backing Case throughout. Friends like Kelly Hogan, Carolyn Mark, Jim & Jennie And The Pinetops, Paul Morstad and Brian Connelly were also kicking around at the gigs and they all appear on the album. While The Tigers Have Spoken promises to be classic Case, don't expect live versions of "Furnace Room Lullaby" or "High On Cruel."
Rather, Case decided to fill the album with standards and covers, taking on songs like The Shangri-Las' "Train From Kansas City" and Loretta Lynn's "Rated X." There are also pair of songs from Case's back catalogue, plus two brand new Case originals on the disc, the title track and "If You Knew."
If you're hankering for more new stuff from Case, the wait won't be too long. The follow-up to 2002's Blacklisted is due out next spring. In the meantime, here's a tracklisting for The Tigers Have Spoken:
"If You Knew"
"Soulful Shade Of Blue"
"Hex"
"Train From Kansas City"
"The Tigers Have Spoken"
"Blacklisted"
"Loretta"
"Favorite"
"Rated X"
"This Little Light"
"Wayfaring Stranger"
